THE SECRET GARDENThe Secret Garden, a musical based on the book of the same name,is the story of an orphaned girl, Mary Lennox, who brings life to a desolate household by convincing the manor gardener to help repair a neglected garden, and a father to restore a relationship with his son. The musical was written by Lucy Simon, the sister of 70's artist Carly Simon. Performances will be held in The Jean Pittman Williams Recital Hall in the Aven Fine Arts Building. The 2008 fall musical production of The Secret Garden will be held September 25-28 and October 2-5 with performances Thursday-Saturday at 7:00 pm and a Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults. Reserved seating is available .
HOMECOMINGHomecoming 2008 is October 25. A 30 minute concert will be presented by The Mississippi College Singers at 1:30 p.m. in Provine Chapel and is open to all Homecoming participants. Following the concert, alumni, former faculty, and friends of the department will gather in the newly renovated Jean Pittman Williams Recital Hall in Aven Fine Arts building to meet faculty, tour the facility, and be present to honor alumni who have distinguished themselves in their fields. Mixed Company, a vocal jazz ensemble, will perform. FESTIVAL OF LIGHTSFestival of Lights is held annually and features The Mississippi College Singers in a service of lessons and carols. The service will be presented in Provine Chapel on December 4-6 at 7:30 pm. Ticket are $10 and may be purchased in advance or at the door. On Friday, December 5, all music and ensemble alumni are invited to a Festival of Lights Reunion Dinner to be held in Anderson Hall at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $20.00 and include dinner and Festival of Lights ticket. Reservations may be made by calling 601.925.3440 or emailing music@mc.edu. The deadline for reservations is Monday, November 24. |
